Waste Wood, Plastic & Cardboard Recycling

Alan's Skip Hire have invested over £3 million in the last twelve months to develop two modern recycling facilities which will benefit our customers by reducing reliance on landfill. This is achieved by recycling a greater proportion of our customers’ waste, helping our customers towards environmental best practice.

As you may be aware the Government impose an annual increase of Tax (Landfill Tax) and this year is the largest since the levy began. Also at the same time the landfill operators choose to implement their increases.

We at Alan's Skips aim to minimise the increases by recycling approximately 78% of all general waste saving on some of the landfill tax and disposal costs. The government has announced that the increases are set to continue at pace until landfill tax reaches £35.00 per tonne. Combine this with landfill disposal costs rising twice yearly. Therefore it is the industry opinion that disposal including landfill tax will reach £55.00 per tonne over the next 18 months. Something to consider when deciding on your waste disposal provider and some reasons why we believe ASH has both the short and long term solutions as your waste services provider and business partner.

Waste Wood Specification for Recycling

The following wood is ACCEPTABLE for recycling at our Wrexham Depot:

• Damaged / undamaged wooden pallets
• All untreated soft and hard woods
• Wooden Crates / Boxes
• Floorboards / joists
• Solid wooden doors / wooden doorframes
• Off cuts of timber
• Incidental quantities of plywood (< 5%)
• Incidental quantities of chipboard (< 5%)

The following wood is UNACCEPTABLE for recycling at our Wrexham Depot:

• Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF)
• Railway Sleepers / Telegraph Poles
• Laminated Chipboards
• Chipboard Kitchen Units / Work surfaces
• Wood veneer doors with cardboard filling
• Hardboard / Fibreboard
• Treated / Preserved Timbers (creosote etc)
• Tree stumps / branches / leaves / twigs

ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL BE MADE FOR LOADS CONTAMINATED WITH UNACCEPTABLE WOOD PRODUCTS, PAPER PLASTIC OR GENERAL WASTES.
